Terms

The terms for booking lessons with The Tutor Genie and using this website.

These terms apply to tutoring lessons booked with The Tutor Genie and to your use of this website. Please read them before booking. By booking lessons, you agree to these terms.

In these terms, "we" and "us" means The Tutor Genie, of 150 Nursery Lane, Alwoodley, Leeds LS17 7AQ, and "you" means the parent or guardian booking lessons for a child.

Booking lessons

Sending a booking request through our website does not confirm a place. We will contact you to talk about your child and agree a lesson time. Lessons are confirmed once we have both agreed the details.

Please tell us about anything that may affect your child's learning or wellbeing, such as special educational needs, medical conditions or allergies, so we can plan lessons properly.

Lessons

Lessons are one to one and take place at 150 Nursery Lane, Alwoodley, Leeds LS17 7AQ, unless we agree otherwise. We will agree the day, time and length of lessons with you.

Please bring your child on time and collect them promptly at the end of each lesson. You remain responsible for your child before and after the lesson.

Fees and payment

We will confirm our fees and how to pay before the first lesson. Fees are payable as agreed. If we change our fees, we will give you reasonable notice before the change applies.

Cancelling or rearranging a lesson

Our cancellation policy forms part of these terms. In summary:

  • please give us 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson
  • cancellations or changes made with less than 12 hours' notice will be charged
  • if you arrive 10 or more minutes late, we may not be able to hold the lesson, and the same charge will apply
  • you will not be charged in a genuine, unavoidable emergency

If we need to cancel

If we have to cancel a lesson, we will tell you as early as we can and offer another time. You will not be charged for a lesson we cancel.

Progress and results

We will always do our best to help your child build confidence and make progress. Every child learns differently, so we cannot guarantee particular results, test scores, SATs outcomes or grammar school places.

Assessment results give a helpful picture of where your child is at the time of the assessment. They are guidance, not a formal diagnosis.

Ending lessons

You can stop lessons at any time. Please let us know as early as you can. We may also end lessons, for example if fees are not paid or if the arrangement is no longer working for your child. We will always explain why and give as much notice as we reasonably can.

Our responsibility to you

We will provide lessons with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Your information

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. Changes will not affect lessons already booked unless we agree them with you.
